8-Bit Adder Built From 152 Transistors – My Insights On Electronics This adder is built entirely out of 2n3904 npn transistors, 220k resistors for inputs, and 47k resistors for output pull ups. This effectivly cut the total number of transistors in half and made the design actually work. this time i tested everything in with simulations before ordering and assembling a pcb.

An 8 bit adder is composed of a series of 1 bit adders chained together. a 1 bit adder is a function that maps input bit a, input bit b, and the input carry bit to the sum bit and the output carry bit. This adder is built entirely out of 2n3904 npn transistors, 220k resistors for inputs, and 47k resistors for output pull ups. there are a total of 152 transistors and 224 resistors, not including the led resistors on the manual switch board.

During my 3rd year of studies, my semi conductor physics lecturer found out i was interested in making a transistor transistor logic (ttl) circuit and together we came up with the idea to make an 8 bit adder using discrete transistors with leds to demonstrate the adding mechanism in ttl. Thanks to the 8 bit adder circuit diagram, we’ve been able to make significant progress in the field of computer engineering. we can now use our devices to perform complex calculations with little effort, store vast amounts of data, and even recognize user commands with relative ease. This project presents the design and implementation of an 8 bit manchester adder, optimized for high performance accumulator applications. the design employs a hybrid logic approach that balances power, speed, and area efficiency. Your 8 bit adder should indicate whether the result can be represented with 8 bits. you will notice that some little modification is required to the 4 bit adder that was implemented in the video (hint: there's a reason why only full adders were used for the 4 bit adder).
