Daily Painting | Berries - Emily Weil Art Anyways i’m just working all this out. it’s confounding. it might not be work outable. [i’ve painted these odd berries before, from a bush near my marina. they look like descending space ships. or maybe tomato y jellyfish.] 7″ x 10″ ink, watercolor, pencil, on paper = $90. I’ve never before seen anything like this bush which had neon pink flowers with blue berries at the center. like the berries had turned into some kind of magenta fireworks. they were gaudy, even — colors looked cartoonish. but they were so cheery to see during my chilly november strolls.

I can let go of worries and heartache at least for the afternoon. this painting started as a sheet of yellow/ochre paint. as it dried in the sun, a leaf floated down and landed on it, so i kept it on the paper and painted over it. then i did it again and it didn’t work, but the heart shape happened. the magic of watercolors thrills me.
