Hi guys i got this from epay, quite cheap. described as fully working (lol) 1 channel was completely dead. due to a broken contact inside the volume pot. then once repaired, a horrible humming buzzing noise when playing a tape. cause by a loose ground screw. also needs a new dd gear. i. Not really my thing although someone may find this of interest. on ebay germany as of now. Earlier on this week, i saw to lots of maxell mxs appear on epay, and was kind of half hearted on bidding for them. i kind of knew that they were going to go for most probably $25 a pop. A new headstack on epay is in th 4 5 hundred range. *eyepop* yep i have looking at a mx 5050biii 2 with both head stacks for recording 1/2 and 1/4 track at 15 or 7 1/2. i am trying to get a feel for how much a complete head stack is going for if i purchase a biii 2 that is missing one of them or the heads need re lapping and or replaced. Serious tapehead epay is probably your best bet, but for some odd reason they seem to go for rather high prices. frankly, i wouldn't bother. the actual tape is below average, apart that is for the very earliest examples of the metal x. this used taiyo yuden metal tape stock the same stuff used on that's mrx pro. it used to sell for a bargain price too but sadly the tape stock was changed.
