Value Of Digital Health | PDF | Monitoring (Medicine) | Health Care Here we review the literature on current design thinking (dt) in healthcare and posit designing for value creation as a way forward based on our 3 years of action research in this emerging field. While there are general principles of good design, digital health design principles need to consider the nature of the targeted medical condition and adapt to the healthcare innovation pathway; below are the principles to consider during the design of digital health solutions. It is, therefore, paramount to offer fundamentally new ways of thinking about creating and distributing value in digital health ecosystems. these considerations lead us to a set of issues which we would like to address through putting together this special issue. Based on our findings, in fig. 3 we present our novel digital health design (dhd) framework comprising the four design phases and eight stages. we associated required stakeholders and possible design challenges with each phase and summarized eight adaptable strategies to address these challenges.

As digital innovation transforms traditional care delivery and creates engaging experiences for patients and providers, it is important for healthcare companies to implement a digital strategy that benefits every stakeholder–patients, providers, suppliers, payers, policymakers. In this contribution, we identify four existing approaches to the use of data for digital health design, namely the silent, the overt, the data enabled, and the convergent. after characterising the approaches, we provide real life examples of each. While value sensitive design has the potential to provide normative guidance and improve the development of digital health technologies in a global health context, the approach also presents challenges and potential shortcomings. The goals of this paper are to equip practitioners to achieve more equitable outcomes via digital health tools and to contribute to standard methods of adopting an equity focus in digital health work.
