I was an intern fixing printers in a bosch factory when someone told me, “you’re going to do this.” i didn’t know how to program — but that one moment sparked a 14 year journey to becoming a staff engineer. this is a story about opportunity, grit, and the power of belief. Today, i’m a software engineer, coding daily, solving real world problems, and continuing to learn every day. this journey wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. in this article, i want to share. Being a self taught software engineer now working for over a year in this field, i felt it was the right time to share how i went from complete beginner to hired professional, so i wrote a blog post about it. After 3 months of trying to read code, i felt that it was time for some serious effort towards actually learning how to code. little did i know, that i was embarking on one of the toughest professional journeys of my life!.

Being a self taught software engineer now working for over a year in this field, i felt it was the right time to share how i went from complete beginner to hired professional, so i wrote a blog post about it. After 3 months of trying to read code, i felt that it was time for some serious effort towards actually learning how to code. little did i know, that i was embarking on one of the toughest professional journeys of my life!. I’m writing this to illustrate how one can become a full time software engineer without getting a computer science degree (minus the job search itself, which i cover extensively elsewhere in my blog). After many rejections during the phone interviews, i had my 2nd round of interview with a startup based out of the us — lunavo labs. it was the worst interview of my life. Every day i worked on a new project, studied a new algorithm, or answered questions in an interview, i became a better engineer. was the struggle worth it? absolutely. i’m thrilled to say that i found a role that’s perfect for me, where i can continue learning and growing. I never set out to be a software engineer, but looking back, i wouldn’t have it any other way. what started as curiosity turned into a career, and that career turned into a passion.
