Industrial Heat Pumps | ACEEE Aceee research shows that ihps can cut the energy use associated with industrial process heat by up to one third and enable co2 savings of between 30 43 million tons per year—equivalent to the emissions from 6.5–9.2 million gasoline powered passenger vehicles driven for one year. The american council for an energy efficient economy (aceee), is a nonprofit research organization that develops policies to reduce energy waste and combat climate change.

Industrial Heat Pumps | ACEEE Among the attendees, our principal engineer, steve koski, took the stage to shed light on the increasingly important future of industrial heat pumps, and the motivations and barriers to implementation we’re seeing out in the field. Looking ahead, we’re bringing the bootcamp in person to charlotte, north carolina during aceee’s summer study on energy efficiency in industry in july. this session will offer real world case studies, hands on learning, and direct engagement with technical experts. As gas prices soar, a familiar but little used technology—industrial heat pumps (ihp)—offers a compelling path to greater electrification and energy security, according to a new report published by the american council for an energy efficient economy (aceee). "by combining the expertise and networks of aceee, nema, and rtc, we are determined to raise awareness, provide resources, and engage key partners to accelerate the deployment of industrial heat pumps across industries in the united states.".

Here, industrial heat pumps (ihps) can significantly reduce energy consumption and ghgs while aiding electrification by providing much of the process heat needed in u.s. industry and helping to make dramatic cuts in industrial emissions. This project seeks to evaluate market transforming heat pump technology for industrial process heating, which mostly relies on fossil fuel or low grade electric heating today. New perspective by industry: companies that are serious about decarbonizing their energy footprints will consider hthps if they yield significant (>5 – 10%) energy savings and decarbonization at a reasonable payback, e.g., less than 5 years.
