With our libraries moving to the next phase of reopening, historic jacksonville, inc. thought it would remind you of how lucky we are to have our library and all the services it offers. The new city of jacksonville historic records collection consists of 372 ledgers and documents, comprising city council, county, and city commissioners meeting minutes, ordinances and resolutions, and indexes dating from the 1870s to the 1960s.

Users can explore topics such as jacksonville's historic neighborhoods, the american civil war, and the great fire of 1901. the collection includes photographs, newspapers, postcards, personal papers, rare books, and oral histories. The building is managed and operated by the jacksonville history center. exhibitions will be featured on the first floor, event and meeting space will occupy the building’s second floor, while the third floor will house the haskell archives and collections department. Opened in 1965, the haydon burns library, designed by architect taylor hardwick, served as the jacksonville public library until 2005.
