Maswik Lodge Thk Associates Inc Maswik lodge is a 280 room lodging complex nestled within several acres of ponderosa pine forest. it is located just a short quarter mile walk or bus ride from the canyon’s edge. The complex consists of a main building with a registration desk, gift shop, food court, a pizza pub, and individual two story lodging units that are spread out to the north and south of the main building. Maswik lodge provides affordable housing just minutes from the south rim of grand canyon. it has been called maswik since 1983, and although briefly known as mushwhip lodge, it was founded. We've now stayed at all of the "in park" hotels accommodations on the south rim. this was the first time we stayed at maswik lodge south. the south units are the ones with no airconditioning! north units (where we previously stayed did are far better and have airconditioning). very, very basic!.

Maswik south buildings closed in 2019 to go undergo a $30 million renovation, and the rooms are opening june 1, 2022. new amenities include private balconies, elevators and interior hallway entrances. in addition to the 90 standard rooms, 30 kitchenette units will be available. Maswick is about 1 4 mile from the rim, a short walk. maswick north a little closer, maswick south a few steps further away. from both, it's not more than a 10 minute walk to the rim. maswick north is slightly better outfitted, but, again in my opinion, not worth the extra $$.
