MIXING RICE: An Asian Restaurant Art Project — Kyuubi Culture-Artist Collective Launching soon! "mixing rice", the 6 month long project, is finally unveiling this friday, oct 15. "mixing rice" is an artist in community project supported by sk arts, aiming to transcend three asian restaurants in the riversdale community with visual art around asian culinary culture. In october 2021, i launched a community based project, "mixing rice," to facilitate a 6 month long exhibition for five saskatoon based guest artists in three asian restaurants. this project raises awareness about north american asian cuisine and provides solidarities to saskatoon's asian community. Kyuubi culture is an interdisciplinary collective consisting of artists proficient in various artistic practices and with diverse cultural backgrounds. Mixing rice is an artist in community project was undertaken in the riversdale business improvement district saskatoon from october 2021 to march 2022 with the curatorial objective to link local asian and artist communities in saskatoon through a visual art exhibition. The second installment of mixing rice online artist talk series; featuring artists occupying odd couple restaurant: biofeedback collective & jinglu zhao .
