Climate change presents a major threat to archaeological heritage in the small islands of the eastern caribbean. the effects of tourism based economic development in island economies also poses a significant threat to cultural heritage. In a conference dedicated to reviving ‘questions that count,’ this symposium is a forum to revive previous questions and formulate new ones in inter and intra island contexts across the caribbean. The great temple excavations, directed by martha sharp joukowsky, were a landmark project for archaeology at both petra and brown university. bupap seeks to build upon and add new directions to brown's already strong tradition of research at petra.
