Research Article Framing Water Energy Food Ecosystem Wefe Nexus Interactions In The Tana This webinar introduces the concept of the water–energy–food–ecosystem (wefe) nexus and how this has evolved, using lessons from southern africa. The talks bring together water–energy–food–ecosystems (wefe) nexus experts from around the world and provide insights on the latest nexus research, new approaches and tools, impacts on policies, and other reflections and experiences.

Nexus Gains Learning Resources For Water Energy Food Ecosystems Wefe Nexus Capacity This webinar will discuss the complex relationships between water, energy, food, and ecosystems (wefe) in the context of the climate crisis. it will explore the interconnectedness of these vital elements and their responses to the urgent challenges posed by the changing climate. The water energy food ecosystem nexus (wefe nexus) approach highlights the interdependence of water, energy and food security and ecosystems – water, soil, and land – that underpin that security. This course serves as a learning resource for postgraduate students on the wefe nexus, with a focus on its relevance to the critical issues of climate change and water security. The body of literature investigating these interlinkages developed into water–energy–food and, more recently, ecosystem (wefe) nexus thinking. the wefe nexus is concerned with cross sectoral resource management requiring dedicated wefe governance approaches.

This initiative aims to realize gains across water, energy, food, forests, and biodiversity systems in three selected regions by co generating a series of outputs via four work packages and a cross cutting capacity development program. Depending on the context and objectives, a wefe nexus approach may include: a nexus assessment that analyses interlinkages, synergies, and trade offs, with the aim of identifying solutions, fostering water food energy security and efficiency, and reducing impacts and risks on ecosystems. The cgiar initiative on nexus gains works at the critical intersection of food, energy, and water security while preserving the ecosystems underlying food systems in selected transboundary river basins. The energy food water nexus is already complex, increasingly complicated by new stressors and the compounding risks of climate change are here to stay. but so is the opportunity for bold, integrated action.
