Goal was founded by former irish journalist, john o’shea, in 1977 when he saw the plight of street children in kolkata (calcutta) firsthand. over the last 48 years, goal has responded to many of the world’s major humanitarian crises, working with vulnerable communities in more than 60 countries.

Our Strategy - GOAL Global Goal has four operational and programmatic goals that anchor and guide our work: emergency response; resilient health; food & nutrition security; and the pursuit of a sustainable, resilient and inclusive world. in addition, goal 5 focuses on building goal's organisational resilience. Our global leadership team goal's global leadership team, led by ceo siobhan walsh, is responsible for delivering goal's organisational strategy across our hq and country programmes. Strong internal and external communications are central to our mission and in this new strategy goal will maximise our impact by melding resources in a cohesive strategy that communicates programming impact and unique capabilities. We will improve our recruitment practices to attract more diverse talent and ensure our global leadership teams foster equity, inclusion and diverse perspectives that are valued in decision making. To improve the livelihoods of people throughout our global value chain. our strategy begins with a purpose that places consumers at the heart of everything we do: brighten everyday life for all. Our strategy and growth action plan we are stepping up our execution to deliver improved performance – focusing on faster growth, productivity and simplicity, and performance culture.
