This collection moves beyond plantation archaeology by expanding the knowledge of the diverse caribbean experiences from the late seventeenth through the mid nineteenth centuries. Meniketti covers the historical findings of a number of mills, and plantations on the island, as well as the impact the industry had on the environment over time. much of this research was conducted during field schools. students participating on field schools contribute directly to new knowledge. Caribbean historical archaeology has significantly broadened its theoretical and methodological approaches over the past two decades through its focus on the diversity of colonial experiences, questions of mobility, and multi scalar studies.
