Ram Utilization? | MacRumors Forums However, one thing i've run into that has been bugging me is the ram usage hovers around 10gb, even when i have nothing running. is this what i should expect from the machine? is there any programs i should remove? it just seems a bit high to me. Modern operating systems abhor unused ram and will attempt to cache frequently accessed files into ram for the fastest possible access speeds.

M3 Max MBP Excessive RAM Utilization | MacRumors Forums Hi everyone, this week i bought the 24 gb m4 pro model. i’ve installed my programs, set everything up, and started using it. i’m a software developer, and i also tend to keep a lot of tabs open in my browser. right now, i usually have around 10 active and 60–70 inactive tabs, and my ram usage. I’d suggest that if you’re somehow only using 40 to 60% of your existing 16 gb, then you hover between 6 gb and 10 gb of ram usage. the m1 devices can swap data out to the ssd exceedingly quickly. this mitigate the pitfalls of not having enough ram to do everything you want to do all of the time. It's just caching what it thinks you're going to use in ram so that it responds quickly. there's only a problem if you run out of ram, and it won't flush things you aren't using. I am trying to figure out how much ram i use, by looking at the activity monitor. i am on an i7 32gb macbook. the activity monitor tells me i am using 20gb of ram and 14gb of app memory right.

I'm trying to figure out how much physical memory my apps are using. i've added in activity monitor the "real memory" and "private memory" columns, but after 1 hour of searching online, it's still not clear to me which one shows the actual ram usage of a certain app. for example, is acrobat using 486 mb, 9.8 mb or 56.7 mb of ram ?.
