Screen Reader Reads The Same Element Multiple Times · Issue #14598 · Nvaccess/nvda · GitHub When tabbing to the cancel button . nothing is read out when tabbing back to confirm all behavior works as expected, including the cancel button this only happens on the first read of this popup. we have tried the jaws & google chrome extension screen reader and they work fine. this just happens with nvda screen reader expected behavior:. Since the question generalises the behaviour screen readers, i like to point out that sr are not all behaving the same! the question can help figure out if voiceover is expected to show this behaviour.

Screen Reader Reads The Same Element Multiple Times · Issue #14598 · Nvaccess/nvda · GitHub Screen reader issues often occur when the creator prioritizes the “rules" of accessibility over the actual experiences of users. for example, you want every image to contain alt text — and that’s a great goal. but you also want that alt text to present useful information to your readers. What seems to be happening when previewing the course (either via the "preview in browser" option or via publishing) is that when the popup text appears, the screenreader (currently nvda) will read the text block 2 or 3 times in a row instead of just once. The external focus is reading two times and the internal focus is reading one time by the screen reader. please check the attached two screen shots for that two types of focuses reference. The screen reader should only read relevant information once for each item. this can happen when the item has a perfectly fine name/label and a redundant accessible name or label.

In a lot of cases this is the same thing, particularly if you have stuck with the default sheet title, which as you might have guessed it, just copies the default sheet name when you create the sheet. I've been asked to resolve an issue where i need the screen reader to read out some text after it has been inserted dynamically into the dom from ajax. i know that in order to do this we need to use aria live. Did you put both alt text and actual text on the graphic? if so, that can cause a screen reader to voice it twice. Testing with windows 11 insiders narrator, and latest vs code insiders: i'm not sure if the repetition in variant 1 is expected (i end up hearing j = 1 three times), but perhaps it's consistent with how other parts of the editor are announced.
