Total Solar Eclipse Composite Astrophotography

Total Solar Eclipse Composite Astrophotography My second total solar eclipse and my first time photographing one! this was a composite image captured from northern arkansas where totality was just over four minutes. This is a wide angle multiple exposure composite, or what i like to call a “wamec”, of 28 filtered images during the partial phases of the eclipse combined with one longer one shot unfiltered at totality. click on the image or link to see a larger version with more information.

Total Solar Eclipse Composite R Astrophotography Description: the solar discs are spaced 2 min 30 secs apart & were shot using a 16 mm wide angle lens on a canon 5d mark iv camera every 30 seconds, so i had plenty of solar discs to decide the almost contiguous sequence. i used baader planetarium's astro solar film for the partial stages. Here is my composite image from a relatively recent solar eclipse. the images were taken with a micro 4 3 camera, through a zoom lens, with a pistol grip ball head on a photo tripod, as opposed to using a full frame camera, through a telescope, on an equatorial mount. I am continuing to edit and upload more of my images taken from the solar eclipse festival at blue sky vineyard in makanda. i captured the eclipse itself without issue, however, unfortunately my wide angle cameras failed and many of my captures of the overall experience were lost. I created a composite of the inner and outer coronas from a couple of my shots from monday. this was an amazing experience and i now have the itch to chase more!.

This is a composite image of the progress of the april 8, 2024, total solar eclipse. it begins with the sun just before c2 at 15 minutes before mid totality (3:13 pm) and ends just after c3 at 15 minutes after mid totality (3:43 pm) local time in dunham, quebec. I'm placing my instructions for creating an hdr composite image of the corona captured during a total solar eclipse. i'm not a pro, but this is what i've learned from extensive research, trial, and many many errors!. This is a composite image i made by collecting all the different stages of the eclipse into one photo taken during totality of the solar eclipse. i took the "artistic" liberty to arrange the different frames in a pleasing manner that encapsulated my vision for the awe inspiring moment. Well here is my shot at displaying the corona, after about 10 processing attempts! the visible lines and structures of the corona are shaped by the solar wind, and can be bright closed loops of plasma or open fainter streams.
