Virtualization Types | PDF | Virtualization | Hyper V Server virtualization, a technology that allows multiple operating systems to run concurrently on a single physical server, has become a cornerstone of modern it. Server virtualization: this splits a physical server into multiple virtual servers, each functioning independently. it helps improve performance, cut costs and makes tasks like server migration and energy management easier.

Virtualization is the process of creating a virtual environment on an existing server to run your desired program, without interfering with any of the other services provided by the server or host platform to other users. “virtualization means that applications can use a resource without any concern for where it resides, what the technical interface is, how it has been implemented, which platform it uses, and how much of it is available.”. This paper aims to provide an in depth analysis of virtualization, its history, types, and key technologies, highlighting its significance in contemporary computing environments.

A virtual machine monitor (vmm/hypervisor) partitions the resources of computer system into one or more virtual machines (vms). allows several operating systems to run concurrently on a single hardware platform. Depending on the position of the virtualization layer, there are several classes of vm architectures, namely the hypervisor architecture, para virtualization, and host based virtualization. Virtualization hides the physical characteristics of computing resources from their users, their applications or end users. this includes making a single physical resource (such as a server, an operating system, an application or a storage device) appear to function as multiple virtual resources. In open source communities, xen, kvm, linux vserver, lxc and others have supported virtualization in di erent plat forms with di erent approaches. in this paper, x86 archi tecture virtualization will be discussed with these historical changes.
